Kenya: International Humanitarian Law course for humanitarian professionals & policy-makers

The course will focus on international law and standards applicable during armed conflict. It is designed to help the participants to find, understand and apply that framework to achieve their professional humanitarian objectives. Topics covered will include:

  • Origins, structure, principles and rules of IHL, as well as contemporary challenges and issues.
  • The relevance of IHL and other legal regimes, such as human rights law and refugee law, for the victims of armed conflict.
  • Role of humanitarian professionals in ensuring better respect for international law and standards during armed conflict.

This course is also an opportunity for participants to engage in peer-to-peer exchanges and share challenges and good practice related to the application of international law and other norms.
